The Happiest Place on Earth

A is for Adventure...and we're ready for some!
It's a P, really it is!
This last week was spring break for me. I enjoyed relaxing, sleeping in until 8:30 for most of the days and overall doing whatever I wanted. Thursday and Friday Peter took off work and we headed to Disneyland with Peter's mom and sister. We had a ton of fun! It's hard to do Disneyland in one day, so we took two. We did most of our favorite rides and left the night around 9 absolutely exhausted. From here we walked a few blocks to our hotel. Friday morning, we walked back to the park and went to California Adventure. We were a bit disappointed. A lot of the park was under construction, they're redoing a lot of it to make it look more Disney related. They took the mickey ears off of the big roller coaster and put it on the ferris wheel instead. And took the sun off the ferris wheel and put that on the roller coaster. Really I don't see the point for the switch. They're also redoing the entire front part of the park. So the big letters are going to disappear and so will the golden gate bridge and the mountains. I'm quite bummed by that. What really needs to change in the park is there needs to be more rides. It will never do as well as Disneyland does, it just isn't big enough.

Here's some fun and relaxing rides we went on. The Winnie the Pooh ride.

The story book ride....AAAAHH! We're getting swallowed by a whale! The Matterhorn Bobsleds
The Jungle Crusie
We have to tell you that we had the best Jungle Cruise driver. He was absolutely histerical! He had us laughing the entire time. Some of his jokes, we were the only ones to get. At one point he said he could translate Swahili, he then starts singing, "Just a city girl, living in a lonely world, took the midnight train going anywhere." Us O's started singing along. We apparently were the only ones that recognized Journey. Another time he told us to get our cameras ready for the perfect shot. He then sits down and poses. Not many people saw what he was doing, but those of us that did, started laughing. He was great!

Our favorite ride though, happened to be at CA Adventure. The new Toy Story Midway Mania is soooo much fun! We rode that ride three or four times. We waited in the longest line for that ride and it was well worth it. At soon as the park was open we nearly walked right onto the ride. We all had so much fun we got back into line again and waited about 20 minutes. Then we left and did some other rides. When we came back later the line was about 40 minutes. We did this last and ended on a good note. Then we headed back to the hotel. Peter and I walked and Laurel and Diana waited to be picked up. We were all very sore when we finally got to sit down and relax.

Some picture moments at CA Adventure include...Me in front of some of my favorite
BEAR characters.
A super cute couple in front of a Beaver
Yes we had a ton of fun!

This brings back memories of the time Peter joined my roommates and I in Disneyland. Remember our lunch in the Blue Bayou? Ha! It still makes me laugh!

Disneyland must be in the air, you are the third person I heard was there last week or this week (hey, it isn't that common for me). And that was a fantastic lunch, Lindsay. :)

I miss Disneyland. Peter did make lunch at the Blue Bayou particularly memorable.

Lindsay, Linda and Melissa, Peter told me about the Blue Bayou. It has gotten a bit harder to get into these days. Online it says you have to get there right when the park opens to get a reservation. So we tried that and they told us you have to call and reserve a spot 2 months in advance! Yikes! So sadly, I've never been there, but I've heard good things about it.

Ellen-Yes the Dole Whip was amazing! I wish we had gone back to get more. They're probably the cheapest things in the park and by far the best tasting treats.

Mandy, if it makes you feel better, I don't actually remember much about the Blue Bayou food and atmosphere-wise. Mainly, I remember that Peter freaked out when the waiter asked him if we wanted more bread. The rest of us were saying 'yes, yes, more bread' and Peter, the one the waiter actually addressed, just sat there like a deer in the headlights. I also think that it was at the Blue Bayou that Peter told Julie "If you were a Star Wars character, you would be Chewbacca"--which is an awesomely horrible thing to say to a girl. Peter may or may not admit to either of these events happening, but they are true.
