Yesterday morning I was induced at 41 weeks. At 4:42pm we became a family of four. Chloe topped the scales at 9 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.
Delivery was extremely fast...much faster than anyone was expecting. I went from 3cm to fully dilated in less than 3 hours. I barely got the epidural in time-what a wonderful medicine! Basically less than an hour after receiving the miracle medicine I was feeling an intense need to push. Doctors and nurses came swarming into the room, gowns and face shields were put on quickly, the area was prepped and about 15-20 minutes later Chloe arrived. Whew it was fast!

Still Waiting...
Here are a couple cute Connorisms from this week:
A package of sample formula arrived in the mail. It had a picture of a duck on the front. Connor-"There are ducks in my can."
"Mommy run your baby out."-Doctor said to do some power walking to aid in setting off labor. "Mommy we go power walking and get your baby out."
"I go to the store with daddy and get some food."
A little later on..."I go to the store with daddy and get a doughnut and some food."
Unfortunately he was a bit naughty at the store, so he didn't get a doughnut. We told him he could try again next time. "I'm going bonkers!" Yes, that's why you don't get a doughnut.
So this week while trying to walk a baby out, stay cool, rest and keep the swelling down-I practiced squatting in the garden. Yesterday we plucked this bounty
We steamed the green beans for dinner and are enjoying the little yellow and orange peppers as a snack. The yellow lemon cucumbers are something I don't need to plant next year. They were an experiment and while they taste good, the skin is very thick and they have a ton of seeds. So you have to peel the skin and cut the seeds out and then you have very little cucumber left to eat. Connor enjoys eating the yellow and orange cherry tomatoes...he was swiping a few as I took the picture.
Our mini watermelons are small yet they don't look like 6 pounds so we're not sure if they're ready or not. We planted more zucchini plants in hope for a late harvest. Our zucchini plants this year gave us 4 zucchinis and then died all of a sudden. Not sure what happened there, we're trying more water now. We also planted some from seed, so we'll see if anything fruits before it gets too cold. We tend to stay pretty hot until the end of October, so I'm hopeful.

Here are some purple peppers that are almost ready
I spy 6 watermelons in this picture. 4 are the darker variety and they look identical, 2 are the color of the ones you buy at the store. Though one of the two is almost completely covered by the plant. Monday, August 19, 2013

Lions and Tigers and Stairs Oh My!
Connor helped me put the jungle stickers on his room today.
He wanted to take a nap there, and we tried, but then he kept jumping off shouting Boom, so we went back downstairs to take a nap. Which was probably for the best, because Frank came by to finish the stairs. His tools make a lot of noise, I was surprised when Connor slept through it all. This area Connor decorated-he put in every sticker upside down and on top of each other. I helped rearrange them.
Here's a cute video taken this evening.
Then he glued on pieces in between the spindles. I love it! It also makes me feel much safer having the railing in place.
Isn't it pretty?!
Frank also started installing the baseboards. He did the stairs and the living room today.

Too Cute!
Connor's vocabulary has exploded! This kid doesn't say words, he says complete thoughts and sentences and some of it is quite hilarious.
*While sitting on the patio with a lot of chalk drawings of trash trucks he says, "I need a wo-man, daddy you daw me a wo-man?" Daddy sits confused, "did he just say what I think he said?" "It sounded like that to me too." Connor tries again, "Daddy, I need a wo-man for my tash tucks." Me-"he wants you to draw a workman-someone to drive the trash truck." Connor is hilarious-he can't say words with r's in the middle of them, but he can say stuff like red and spider just fine. After daddy said, workman several times as he drew, Connor was carefully trying to say workman. "You daw me a wok-man, a wo-ok man." "Close enough."
*Over the weekend we hung up the Pooh border for Chloe's room. "I play in Chloe room?" "Yes you can play in Chloe's room." "I run?" "No the railings aren't up yet, so please stay in Chloe's room." "I want to jump off." "No, you'll get very hurt. I'll take you downstairs if you want to go down." "No, I stay up."
*Last week Connor and I put together the baby swing. Once it was together I asked him to get me his teddy bear. He came back with an elephant pillow. I put it in the swing and turned it on. He ran back into the room and brought me his teddy bear, so we swapped the elephant for the bear. Then he brought me another teddy bear. They shared the swing. "You push it higher mommy?" "You don't push this swing, like the outdoor ones, you push a number and it goes fast or slow." "You make it go fast?" "This is what it looks like going fast." "You make it go slow?" "This is the slowest it goes. It also plays sounds like your wave machine, or it plays music." I showed him the different sounds it made. He played with the buttons for a few minutes and then snuggled up underneath and fell asleep. We had errands to run with daddy, so I woke him up. Later in the day I tried getting him to take a nap and he refused. I said he could lay out by the swing and we could turn on the music for him. "No, noise." He promptly laid down under the swing and fell asleep.
*Today while eating dinner at grandma and grandpa's house, Connor announced that he was done and wanted to get down. "Daddy I want out, Daddy I want out, Daddy I want out." After being told to sit and finish his corn, he responded, "Peter I want out!" We had a hard time keeping a straight face.
*Later this evening while eating ice cream- "Daddy you want ice cream? Daddy go get ice cream." Daddy said he didn't want any ice cream, he said he would share with mommy, but Connor kept insisting that daddy goes to get ice cream. Then he said, "Daddy hop off your chair and get some ice cream." The rest of us couldn't stop laughing.
*On Monday I took Connor with me to the DMV and told him if he was extra good we could go buy a toy from the store. "I want a dump truck and a digger." "You can have one toy." "I want a dump truck and a digger." After the above conversation was repeated over and over again, he finally decided that the dump truck was cooler. So we brought that home. He loves it. Here he fell asleep amongst a ton of baby clothes that I was sorting. He found the shoes and loaded them up.
Today we ran errands and didn't get in a normal nap. He got a 20 minute nap on the way to switch out cars at the repair shop, then he got in about 30 minutes on the floor. I woke him up to go to grandma and grandpa's house. He insisted the dump truck was to go with him. Then he went back to sleep in the 3 minute car ride from our house to grandma and grandpa's house.

Two Anniversaries
Saturday was our 6th wedding anniversary...my how time flies. We celebrated by going to the farmer's market, buying some really tasty grapes, a pretty bouquet of flowers and then riding the steam engine. Peter also put together Connor's big boy bed and installed his closet shelving. In the evening we went out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (we had gift cards), while Grandma, Grandpa, Sean and Amy watched Connor. That was the first time we've gone on a dinner date in at least a year.
Friday was our one year anniversary of having keys to our house. It was one year ago that our contractor-Frank, stepped into our house to fix the small things that we had a list of, and ended up demolishing our kitchen. A lot has happened in the past year with this house. We have: gutted and expanded the kitchen, removed all original flooring except the downstairs bathroom(that will happen eventually), put in brand new carpet and tile, new paint everywhere, rebuilt the staircase-stripped, sanded, stained the railings, painted the spindles, gutted and removed a wall in the upstairs bathroom, put new flooring in the upstairs hall so it doesn't creak anymore, mudded, textured and painted all walls and ceilings in the entire house. New windows in the downstairs bedroom and kitchen were installed as well as two new sliding glass doors as well. In the front yard-well it looks amazing! We have flowers, grass, trees, and a florishing fruit and veggie garden with brand new sprinklers and a drip system.I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting-basically if it could be redone, it was! The only thing that currently remains is the downstairs bathroom-but that did get a little bit of a facelift.
Friday was Peter's day off of work so we got a lot done: painted some baseboards, installed the Pooh border in the nursery, I unloaded several bags of bears onto the shelves in the nursery and put up the baskets with clothes.

So that brings us to tonight....We had family dinner at the O's. Sean and Amy have moved here and are currently staying with Peter's parents. Heidi is 5 months older than Connor and she is potty training. This evening Kirk comes running outside announcing that Heidi has pooped her pants and it's everywhere! Amy rushes in to clean the mess and comes back to announce, "that's not my child." Connor had the worst blowout I've ever seen. Peter called for backup and then told me to get the camera. It was really gross! While Peter and I cleaned up Connor, Amy and Mary cleaned up the areas that Connor pooped on...it was everywhere. Later in the evening we found more on a duvet cover...sorry guys!
